It was funny—when I went Austerity Mode in 2019, I really stressed myself out trying to optimize prices of things like butter. I realized a year later that such low-order bits are totally overshadowed by more important behavioral changes (eating out less, etc). A relief TBH.

All it takes is being comfortable with starving for long stretches of time. All these "designers" are recapitulating the 1950s angst of brilliant young Ivy grads who were Really novelists and just working on Madison Avenue becauseyouknow.

Did the same but went in the hermit direction in early 30s. Feeling much more confident about being able to work on what I want more than 10 years ago. Mostly because I know I don’t need much.
