Fascinated by the deck of cards as a writing medium (Oblique Strategies, The Art of Game Design, IDEO Methods). just published a new deck, "idk": exercises for productive discomfort. productivediscomfort.org

Just packed my Oblique Strategies deck in a bag for some writing a moment ago.
Looking forward to checking this. Thanks.

I loved the concept but in practice Oblique did nothing for me :( thanks for logging!

totally agree about the surface treatment—I'm looking for a supplier for the next print run which can do the microtexturing
know anyone?
(and 🙏 thanks for the log!)

Sorry, I'm clueless about that—maybe would share who printed The Art of Game Design: A Deck of Lenses?

Another example is this PhD publication by designwithintent.co.uk/introduction-t (2010) with “provocative gambits” rather than “definitive patterns” since “we don’t have enough information about what works and what doesn’t in different situations to be able to be that specific”.

Thanks Sander. happy to have a chat about card decks as "authored medium". With the New Metaphors cards imaginari.es/new-metaphors/ we explicitly saw our selection process of the concepts to include as being a kind of authorship or maybe curatorship. idk looks intriguing!

I desperately wish I could buy a deck of E-ink cards to simulate a vast number of tools like these. Not just to divine the thoughts and patterns of others but also the thoughts and patterns of myself

i would get this
it might be possible to do it very clunkily with e-ink SKU display units but the UX of cards would just not be the same
