More interesting COVID-arts fallout: this year's int'l collegiate a cappella championship was moved online. Instead of a live stage set, groups shot pre-recorded music videos. Very different vibe, favors diff skills. My fave was Berklee's Upper Structure:

Can't help worrying that getting produced recordings and videos made is awfully expensive for these students!

One funny thing: because they're pre-recorded, all these performances are technically ~perfect, but it's *so* hard to produce a cappella recordings with energy.

Boy, I really miss the feeling of singing in tight harmony with people, the air shining when the fifths lock in, buzzing when the seconds are just right. Just intonation is magic. Funny how that became basically the most forbidden type of activity during the pandemic!
