Temperaments will vary puppy to puppy even within the same litter, but your odds of getting a stable dog from a great breeder are *way* better. With rescues, youβre hit with the double whammy of unknown hereditary issues and preexisting traumas/unaddressed behavioral problems

You have to do a lot of training either way, but with an older dog youβll be outside the optimal window for socialization and working against bad habits. I have a very special bond with my rescue and will likely adopt again, but I do have more flexibility with my breeder pups

I'm curious what breeds you went with?

First and oldest (14 y/o) is a female chihuahua mix rescue. Iβve had her for 11 years! Second is a male moyen poodle (5 y/o) from a breeder. Third is a husky (13 weeks) from a breeder.

I have a super sweet 11 year old pug I inherited and the puppy is a golden retriever

Older littles and younger large breeds are a trip. π Goldens are incredible dogs, though

Thanks! Does he do dog training?

No, and Shabu's training is dicey, but I can at least commiserate! :)
It gets substantially better at months 6, 9, and 12! Much less craziness. She just turned 3 years old this week.
