* Memory isn't a high-order bit for creative work, complex insight, etc. * Explicit learning activities of any kind are a dead-end; we just need to figure out how to design implicit learning environments well. * My work disregards the social experience. * Where's the poetry?

Wonderful summary! How do you respond or operate under this sort of criticism though? Do you see counterpoints for each arguement? Or is there a larger prevailing point you care about that overrides the other concerns?

I find this kind of criticism quite generative, because it’s all clearly at least partially right! Thinking carefully about each helps me better understand the limits of my ideas, better understand the limits of those criticisms, and (ideally) improve both.

For example: It’s really easy to imagine e.g. “wow, memory systems will be so useful!” but these criticisms help me get precise about exactly where and why I expect them to be useful—and less useful!
