Does anybody here have a hard limit on the number of new cards in Anki?
Does anybody use the load balancer?

I use a hard limit of 40 new cards per day; it's worked well for me.

That seems like a lot, how many reviews do you do each day?

I don’t reliably produce 40 new cards a day, so generally 50-100.

Oh that makes sense. I'm used to the situation where I have a backlog of thousands of cards, so there's never a shortage :)

Curious: why do you have a backlog of thousands of cards? Did you stop using Anki for quite a while?

Sorry, the word backlog was unclear. I meant that I have a bunch of unseen cards because I'm using a large pre-made deck, so I never have a shortage of new cards to draw from. (I do happen to have a large backlog from not studying for a while, but that's another story!)

Thanks, that makes sense. Does using a large pre-made deck work for you?

Yes, very well. I know it goes against the standard advice, but a single pre-made Anki deck was probably the biggest contributor to me learning Mandarin.

Makes a lot of sense for language learning!
