Nabokov advice please: what should I read next after Lolita, Ada, Pale Fire, and Speak Memory? Opinions on his short stories? I haven’t explored them yet.

how are his other books? I loved Lolita but was equally disturbed and didn't feel ready for more.

Utterly astonishing, every one. Part of the point is that they’re disturbing, of course.

Loved Lolita. Should Pale Fire be next?

Hard to say! Pale Fire is an experiment in form: a metatextual setting unfolded through the extensive web of annotations surrounding a poem. Ada is more straightforwardly a novel, if that’s what you’re looking for, with a bunch of play with time/perception in the form.

Both of those things sound torturous tbh but I guess the prose will make it worthwhile?

Hah, maybe! Give it a shot and let me know :)
