Nabokov advice please: what should I read next after Lolita, Ada, Pale Fire, and Speak Memory? Opinions on his short stories? I haven’t explored them yet.

“Speak Memory hands down” is Stacey’s suggestion.

Ah, I read the tweet wrong. Speak Memory was my favorite of those 4. Invitation to a Beheading is one of my favorite books all time. Transparent Things is a really fun read. It's one of his later books and refreshingly eccentric.

It's funny—I find everything he writes quite eccentric… but in quite different ways for each book! I've never seen an author with such range.
