Sci-Hub's URL scheme involves appending ".sci-hub.se" to whatever the original domain was; there's no valid SSL cert for that arbitrary concatenation, so if you don't do this your OS will make you click through a bunch of scary warnings.

(of course, you may prefer to click through those warnings rather than have your traffic transmitted in the clear, in which case you can simply remove that part of the expression)
