The dynamics of subscriber-based membership communities are very disorienting! An example from today:
If I invite Twitter to an event, a couple % of followers might engage. I’m running a new workshop and invited my Patreon members—20% RSVP’d! Totally wrecked my plans, naturally.

I don’t think I’ve sufficiently differentiated how I think about, say, a Twitter community vs. a membership community. I treat the latter roughly as a more focused version of the former, but it should probably be treated as a completely different thing.

Seem like whole different animals to me: one bought a ticket to the show, one is listening in on the radio (and might call in if they’re reallllyyy moved to)

Yes, I guess that’s right—but it’s hard to internalize!
It’ll def make your patrons feel all fuzzy and your Twitter followers consider patronizing if the content and offerings differ tho
