Odd culture question: I spend time with lots of designers in San Francisco, have lots of connections to various startup design teams, etc. Yet I know zero people at IDEO, the largest design institution in the city & among the largest in the world. Why? A cultural divide? Just me?

I’d second this observation; I’ve run into a few people associated with IDEO without trying just from being around the intersection of design and academia.
