I think it’s important for authors to do the work of structuring the idea space to help readers navigate it; and a pure mind map graph doesn’t. We don’t yet have good tools for intermediate degrees of structuring. Cc

Maybe the minimum viable tool is first-class threads through the node space. First-class meaning they get titles and their own text, so the author could have a “path through for people who want all the math,” with an explanation of what that is for and what it’s like, and >

a separate “path through for people who want to skip the math,” which might—as well as skipping the math—include material not on the math path, explaining things in a more touchy-feely way.
