Worth compiling a list of proof-of-Xs. For example: proof-of-who: digital signature proof-of-what: cryptographic hash proof-of-when: blockchain timestamp There's also proof-of-location, proof-of-space, etc. Each such proof expands the scope of the ledger of record. Got more?

Yeah, you could do that with an NFT signed by (say) Lambda School, quantum.country, or fast.ai where they assert that you had a particular skill at a particular time in their assessment. cc

They could also set up a web server, rest api or 1800 number to do that. All of which are much easier technologies to build on.

No, because that means N different servers by N different educational institutions, each of which can go (and will go, and has gone) offline or change formats. A blockchain (or something like IPFS) provides a single point of truth, a common file format, and total uptime.

As it happens, I’ve built Orbit’s data structures as IPFS-compatible nodes so that we can move that way once the protocol stabilizes. (Orbit is ~platformized Quantum Country) Ofc, SRS logs are self-reported, so as-is, they’re more proof-of-interest than proof-of-knowledge.
