Yes. One reason software development is so much more expensive than it used to be is that making one app now requires that you write/maintain three apps. Electron enables an organization to have a "native" desktop presence without having to build/maintain a *fourth* one. 1/4

Given that Slack, Microsoft (VScode), Spotify, and others use it, maybe a more pragmatic strategy is for some security folks to help improve its security? I'm pretty sure we're not going to get the world to stop using those apps nor developers stop using it b/c they find value...

In the style of "worse is better," that immediate value (even if otherwise terrible!) produces a world where it is the only viable option, even for apps that don't benefit from what initially drove adoption (eg VSCode), simply because it is the only thing with real energy in it.

Imo there are only two ways out: 1) You recreate the value prop of being able to use an existing code base on the desktop. Catalyst is half the battle, but only gets you one desktop. I was hopeful ARC Welder would fill the gap, but it seems Google might no longer be interested.
