As # of followers increases, I worry there are fewer correct and/or valuable takes I can broadcast with confidence to such a large audience. Should I make my tweets private at 5K? [serious]

Possibly! I did start to find it hard to fully “be myself” on Twitter as my audience grew. I still struggle with this, a lot. But it’s possible... my favorite Twitter users are all people who are much more “themselves” here than I, yet have as many or more followers.
