Twitter: I am terrible at asking for help! I never think to do it. And when I do, I dismiss it, thinking “ah, it’s so much overhead to involve others that it’s easier to just handle myself.” But I’m sure I’m not asking nearly enough.
Help me! What strategies do you have here?

it might help to reframe that: how do you feel when you can help someone else?
I assume it‘s somewhere on the positive spectrum, and allowing others to feel the same is a good deed

I wonder if this is part of the problem, actually. Outside of close relationships, most requests I get for help are actually things I don't want to do. Sometimes I help anyway, and it mostly doesn't feel good. This may be coloring my behavior.

that sounds relatable. maybe there's a pattern there about which requests feel good to help, and which don't. Or it might help to ask for help more broadly instead of someone specific, as you did right now. Judging from the number of replies you got people were eager to help here
