Some people collect stamps; I’ve been collecting unusual applications of spaced repetition systems.
I realized today that I haven’t yet solicited the power of Twitter here! What weird use cases have you found?

negative result: i tried to apply SRS to drawing.
i wrote a script to pick images out of my art reference, show them to me for 30s, and then prompt me to draw them. i'd rate how well i reproduced the drawing, and the images would re-appear on a spaced repetition basis.

after a week, i didn't see an improvement versus non-SRS studies, and it was WAY less fun than doing studies of new images, so i stopped.
i'm planning to try this again but specifically focused on anatomy studies. i'll see how that goes!

Very interesting; thank you for sharing! I’m curious if you have a sense of why it failed? I can imagine that repetition might be unpleasant in that context (or indeed, in the context of any effortful task).

i think it failed because there were too many skills involved all at once. useful art practice for me focuses on one skill at a time, but this asked me to practice everything at once: trying to recall measurements, poses, anatomy, shapes, and line quality all at the same time.
