Relatedly, is there a good lightweight format for authoring interactive documents? Goal would be to ask a binary question and show a different piece of text given the answer.
In theory iterated branching can get quite complex. Feels like YAML is probably right.

It has some unusual non-linear writing features: e.g. you can give statements/arguments titles and elsewhere refer to them as supporting/undercutting others.
