This turned out to be a challenging set of ideas to disentangle, so it was largely a video of me being confused for 90m, but hey, that's what my mornings are often about.

Definitely produced a change in consciousness. Reflections: – thinking aloud generated clarity in some moments; slowed me down in others – made me less comfortable sitting with confusion for long periods (that’s bad) – felt nudged towards resolution, speed (mixed bag)

Though some people surprised me by reporting that this was useful, I’m pretty sure it’s nowhere near an efficient frontier for conveying methods. Don’t think I’d repeat this without thinking more carefully about that.

I know this wasn’t the purpose, but one of the biggest benefits for me was the micro stuff: Keeping daily note clean with bullet points; not creating lots of new notes constantly but using daily log; CMD-click for opening in a new window;

realizing the importance of limiting notes in progress; your window layout (which encourages a linear flow); sort by creation date (which increases spatial memory, especially with backlinks) have been HUGE for me. Helped me have a much more productive day today.

More on grouped bullets in daily note: A flat list is fine for jotting ideas / closing loops, but grouping is way better for: Organizing thoughts; developing partial ideas; easy to turn into (inbox) note; makes it easy to close out day. I have 8 right now & feels very organized.

Feels very much like the process of going from a hobby cook who leaves a huge mess while cooking to learning to work clean & efficiently. Anyway, I think I’m finally done now ;)
