There are surprisingly few serious "web books"! I don't even mean "fancy new media books"—just: written primarily for and read primarily on the web.

My main problem with web books is that I can’t read them without internet access. I think I’m much more productive when there is no temptation to go and surf the web. And in that case it’s just one tab away.

Yes, right. I don't think any of these support service workers for offline viewing, and I'm not sure the browser implementations are sturdy enough that I would trust them if they did: e.g. maybe they evict cached content if the disk gets slightly full, without telling me…

Btw, I remember CDs with archives of online libraries, which you could use in your browser. Horrible experience as well but for other reasons.
