I tried using Notion for Zetteling, but the performance friction was too high. Want to open several notes in multiple windows? Hope you're ready to wait several seconds for each one to open. Currently using Bear, which is working well for now.

I also like being able to write little scripts to process the notes—e.g. to add backlinks, archive external URLs referenced, etc. Notion has no API. :(

You have to roll your own scripts to add this kind of stuff. I have a little evolving zoo of scripts; may be worth sharing at some point. A good place to start is to run the export script here every few minutes. Then you can have other periodic jobs which parse and add bits…
