I tried using Notion for Zetteling, but the performance friction was too high. Want to open several notes in multiple windows? Hope you're ready to wait several seconds for each one to open. Currently using Bear, which is working well for now.

I also like being able to write little scripts to process the notes—e.g. to add backlinks, archive external URLs referenced, etc. Notion has no API. :(

I think FSNotes has a lot of potential—in some sense more than Bear. I went with Bear because FSNotes: * has no support for multiple windows (?!) * has no autocomplete for wiki-style links * is significantly less polished These things are all fixable, since it's OSS. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
