Thesis: mobile-web-first may be the optimal strategy for anything that's not using phone hardware.
Reasons:
1) Easy to try without app install
2) UX translates to iOS/Android with React Native
3) Decent on desktop web if you use a responsive CSS framework

I agree, but it's an awful stable equilibrium—a much worse experience for users in many ways. I'm excited for future evolutions along the lines of Instant Apps + React Native. We were exploring that path at Apple years ago but the tech wasn't there yet. I hope they're on it now.
(Also: I'm optimistic that the path for jumping to desktop will be React Native + Project Catalyst. Very excited about ridding us of Electron!)

Do you see a future where Swift on Linux/Windows play a role in this? Wouldn't surprise me too much tbh with Google now working on Swift for Tensorflow

Zillow on Android is best-in-class for Instant Apps. Real 😮 experience.

Swift UI takes care of a lot of this, and ABI stability now should help with exporting. But native, imo, is still preferable. React Native is not iOS development.
😱Why is this not breaking news ?? Apple was exploring “Instant Apps + React Native” type thingies 😱😱😱
