Twitter: What are your favorite strategies for creating meaningful moments of celebration for yourself or loved ones?
(I'm terrible at this! I suspect I'm missing opportunities to amplify big moments in my/friends' lives)

I'm not especially good at this, but I have a couple friends who are exceptional at it. Here are some things they've done:

- decorating their apartment in silly ways (e.g. like a French restaurant to welcome me home from Europe; using a fan + confetti as fake snow to welcome someone to Canada for the first time)

- getting a bunch of friends to record clips for a mock award show in which the recipient wins e.g. Roommate of the Year

- paying a local business to put a special message on their billboard for a day

- buying an absurd amount of something consumable that their friend loves (e.g. fill the freezer with ice cream)

They're pretty relentlessly creative with this stuff, but one thing that has always struck me is how logistically easy it is to make an occasion memorable — once you have the basic conceit, all you have to do is go to the dollar store and buy a bunch of silly stuff!
