Also, the idealized hero vs. actual hero. Maybe a hero was really driven by status or power. Doesn’t mean you can’t respect an idealized version who is driven by a mission. Ex: Believing in an idealized LBJ who cared about civil rights vs real LBJ who was just playing politics.

Heroes’ values and hypothetical respect is different than the actual attention of the specific person at that time. First heuristic maybe useful to consider choices. Second implies you deserve / need their specific attention.
