I've been obedience training a puppy with a clicker and a treat bag… and it's offering me a newly visceral lens on behaviorist teaching. It's hard not to imagine many designers thinking of kids like puppies.

Lots of reflecting on my own classrooms. Early on I put on a big show like soccer red cards for cell phone use or putdowns, proto-fights. Too confrontational
Shifted to a more informational approach: “-1 professionalism point for x” said to that kid only.

Kids still need communication about expectations, but it doesn’t need to be as the authority handing out red cards.
Unlike a puppy, you can talk to human kids and have a dialogue.

I recently got to know about the clicker method to train puppies, and was curious if someone flipped this logic, and has tried social/peer based learning to train puppies from other trained ones? 🤔
