Process shot. I've been playing with interactive visualizations of the wide gamut color spaces available on newer screens (>= iPhone 7). It's amazing how many super punchy vivid colors are suddenly available, but I haven't seen them obviously used in screen design!

Depends on exactly the context you're trying to use 'em. But, say, the max-brightness ones vs white text? Probably not. I was surprised to see that these wide gamut screens also add a lot of new rich blacks. Here's the part of the color wheel only available wide-gamut at l=9/255:

Unsurprisingly, Twitter removed the color profile on that PNG. If you have an iPhone 7 or above you can click through to view the original in full gamut here: andymatuschak.org/images/p3/9.png

It is! If you take a loupe to it or compare to pure black you’ll see subtle colors. I’m working on clearer visualizations.
Ah, so the shape is: imagine drawing a standard HSL color wheel (in P3 space) for lightness at 9/255. Now remove all the colors in the wheel which old displays can show. The remaining piece shows the colors which only P3 displays can render. Neat to see the “shape.”
