Hey I wanna learn how to write an app (let's say iOS, to start); what are some good resources for learning this? I know how to code, I don't know Swift, I hate build systems and hope the bulk of my activity is not wrestling with getting the thing actually loaded onto my phone.
Can you say more about what you aim to do? For anything other than a bleeding-edge, highest-production-value product, I'd recommend starting with React Native, which has quite a smooth learning curve and a number of advantages over Apple's tools: https://facebook.github.io/react-native/

If you're interested in learning Apple's tools specifically, the Stanford course is a good place to start: https://itunes.apple.com/us/course/developing-ios-11-apps-with-swift/id1309275316 …. I'm also always happy to answer questions. :) We switched to React Native at Khan Academy a year and a half ago, and it's been glorious.

Agree with Andy 100%, super fast and easy to see results with a fairly low barrier to entry on react/native. Since you do a lot of 3D, Unity was quick to get up and running with AR in about an hour too.
