Jasper Carrott has always been one of the most passionate champions of the West Midlands. I'm humbled that he's chosen to support me in this film:

  2. I'm not a businessman anymore, but I've tried to bring what I learnt to benefit our region. There's only one job I'm reapplying to keep. Thank you to Paul, one of our leading current job creators for this:

As Mayor, I've sought to bring people together and get stuff done. Even when it's not in the job description. Helping get the Sky Blues back home was a great example of this.

Our phenomenal vaccine rollout continues across the Midlands with an outstanding 6.3MILLION DOSES administered & great news that everyone in the 9 highest risks groups has now been offered the vaccine. Thank you to our NHS & volunteers for working tirelessly to protect us.

With more homes, public services such as NHS clinics & better transport links, our high streets can bounce back. That's why we lobbied Govt for the cash to help us do just that and won: 🛍️£19m for Rowley Regis 🛍️£25m for West Brom 🛍️£25m for Wolves 🛍️£23.5m for Smethwick 2/2

Retail is a sector close to my heart, so I'm pleased to see the doors swing back open this week. But there's no denying online sales have triumphed over recent years & sadly our High Streets have suffered as a result. So I've been working on a plan to get them back on track 1/2

And that's it, the last piece of the track has been welded into place on the Hagley Road! It won't be long until we start testing trams from Broad Street to Five Ways - ready to welcome passengers by the end of the year. Just another piece of my WM transport plan coming to life

A pleasure to pay tribute to Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh on A rock by the Queen’s side for so long and an incredible public servant, he will be sorely missed. My thoughts are with the Royal Family today.

Thank you to the Al-Mahdi Institute in Selly Oak for inviting me on the first Friday of Ramadan. It was fascinating to hear about the vision of the institute, which focuses on the scholarly aspect of Islam in an atmosphere that promotes inclusivity & inter-faith collaboration.

Solihull is already grappling with the huge challenge of meeting the need for new homes whilst protecting the Green Belt. So I do not support any more pressure being put on the borough for development. We need to support them & the WM by bringing forward more brownfield sites.

4/4 I’ve written to Government alongside Edgbaston and the city council to try and make this happen, and I’ll also be personally taking it up with ministers. Read more here 👇🏻

3/4 Live sport is incredibly important to so many across the region, and so with low case rates and a very effective vaccine rollout we must start planning to get more fans back in grounds as soon as it is safe to do so - starting with the Edgbaston test.

2/4 Not only will this allow more locals to attend and watch some fabulous cricket, but it’ll show to Government that sporting events across the West Midlands - including football and rugby matches - can be run safely with larger crowds so long as the right measures are in place.

1/4 The Edgbaston test this June will be a landmark moment & the perfect opportunity to facilitate bigger events Currently, the ground will be able to operate at 25% capacity but we want that doubled to 50% A robust Covid-secure plan is in place & backed by public health bosses

Many have lost their jobs due to the pandemic, and it’s critical we get them back into work ASAP. That’s why I have a plan for 100k jobs within two years, and why projects like HS2 are so important. Companies such as are already hiring for jobs in construction & rail.

A pleasure to open the new £3m in Birmingham - another example of a big brand showing confidence in our region. Healthcare facilities such as these are critical to the future of the high street as we rebuild from the pandemic.
