Often that it was previously registered and the previous owner did something to annoy instagram and the account got shut down.

Idk bc I used to have my firstlastname as a username, changed it, but can never have the original again without a . or _ so I wound up just sticking with something funny instead.

They wiped out my personal account once over a dumb error with my business account. The handle still exists. I can’t see the account. I had to start completely over. They never even responded to me. One email got associated with 2 accounts then wiped out 1 account.

I have a private account because an ex kept harassing me on it. He would use different aliases. I decided I didn’t really want it public anyway. It’s just pictures of my cats anyway.
