LONG ago, my then "father-in-law" taught me to clean everything as you go. When I cook as I am done with a mixing dish, utensil, etc. I make sure to wash them. The only thing leftover would possibly be the pots or cast iron pan that would need special attention after the meal.

We’re down one bowl and one cup. Also, Corelleware goes everywhere when it hits the floor.

I had a house once without a dishwasher. I bought a portable one that hooked onto the kitchen faucet and worked beautifully. It was on rollers and served a variety of purposes when not in use. One of the best decisions I ever made.
