BREAKING: Prison phone justice advocates applaud Congress for including a provision in the CARES Act authorizing the DoJ to allow free calls for people incarcerated in fed prisons & their families. Prior to this, it was $3.15 for a 15-min call. The measure took effect last night.

This provision is particularly important as COVID19 rampages through fed prisons & other correctional facilities across the country. Free phone/video calls ensures those behind bars can connect w/ their loved ones and/or support systems.
