That is not a possibility for the grand majority of Americans. HALF live paycheck to paycheck. 40% can not afford a $400 emergency without borrowing. We pay for healthcare. Wages have stagnated. You live in Canada where things are far more stable :/

That's cost of living these days. A couple mid-range devices, phone plan is easily $120/month. An affordable used vehicle is always going to need something. I've had to borrow from 401K when major repairs needed. What are you all spending on groceries each month? Hand-to-mouth.
