I have two rents. Self-employed - shut down. Live in major corporation complex in the Bay Area (rent is astronomical). I’ve turned to wine.
Terrified I won’t qualify for unemployment. How are the rest of you out there approaching your landlords about rent?

I am gonna write a letter to mine explaining the sit. (both jobs lost) and pay what we can this month, and ask for a deferment of payment for May. We shall see how it goes

As a landlord, I'd rather have a known-good tenant and back rent in the future, than a homeless guy and an empty unit. Because if there's a recession, I ain't got a waiting list.

Yeah I was on unemployment at the end of the year and ran it out says I’m not eligible to apply again till July. I’m hoping I can get can exception. You haven’t approached rent yet but with eviction suspended I’m a just let them know I can’t pay until the world gets back

So you'll be able to apply again--that's great. I was wondering what would happen to those whose unemployment ran out recently.
