What about the work ethic? Do millennials study and work as hard as their parents did? If not, how can they expect to earn more and have higher status?https://twitter.com/CNN/status/1221066710230368256 …

For a graduate of Dartmouth (not to brag), you sure are inept at understanding the basics of economic inequality.

He’s absolutely spouting nonsense. Does he have kids. They have to work extremely hard to succeed in this competitive environment.

Children of the well-heeled have the *option* of working hard to forge their own path to a secure future. Their safety net not only exists, it is many layers deep—as deep as their inherited family fortune and connections.

His argument ignores systemic socio-economic deficiencies the vast majority of Americans face. Study/work hard = success is not a given for them. Given his authority on the right, he has the responsibility to fairly represent their realities to an audience that's ignorant of it.

Y’all are spouting gibberish. It’s called the lottery of birth. For kids whose parents didn’t ascend the career ladder & save a bit for retirement, tough shyte. Go make your own way and take some ownership of YOUR future, like ANY American who wants it enough. Those who dare, win

And look at the list of millionaires and billionaires who came from modest (and poor) backgrounds. They are not fairytales.

You obviously only hear of those successful people - please explain the awful rise of suicide and opioid use. It’s the divide. The #AmericanDream is much harder to achieve unless as someone mentioned you start off ahead of the curve.

I started our w/ hand-me-downs through HS, and then I was on my own. After the military I finished my degree and started working and evolving as a person. No help w/ the curve just meant I worked longer and harder. Today I have 2 in college on scholarships and one in MS. Curves?

Again, that’s great for you. I’m happy your hard work paid off. But your experience is not the same as others and you can’t plant your flag and state “anyone can do it if I did” as that’s statistically inaccurate.

Just as you cannot plant your flag saying it’s everyone else’s responsibility to pay for what anyone else cannot. My point is that if there’s a will, there’s a way. Not sure where your research ended for adequate support, but it ended too soon. Keep grinding until grace appears.

Moreover, what makes “your truth” more vitally important to the rich than anybody else’s truth? The OBJECTIVE truth is that it is impossible to normalize massive scale economic systems to equate for every permutation of personality and temperament.

Not the way YOU’RE proposing. Cannot create an obligation out of thin air. The US works on incentives.
