Dear @AmericanAir,
After arriving back to LA from Indonesia, I was $275 EQDs under (yet 25K miles over) from maintaining status. You asked me to pay $1875 (?!) to keep status, so instead I booked a $400 rt ticket to Mexico for 24 hrs. Here’s how my fucking night went...

I believe they read it exactly right. This guy isn’t complaining, he’s taking bows.

Sooo, American Airlines is? Usually the airline’s responsibility ends somewhere around the airport doors. Great story, well told...but this has to be a twitter outrage stunt.

Lol thanks. The point I was making is that none of this would’ve happened if AA would’ve just let me pay the $275 I was short as they used to allow... not the made up $1875 which came out of their asses. Each year brings new greedy provisions that fucks the customers.

Still, the destination selected and what you do there is on you. (Although, in fairness, my sister did get locked up in La Paz once) And the Big 3 airline status “top off” deals are always sold at a premium (over fares).
