Thank you for reading about it. I don’t want people NOT to travel to Cabo. I was a sole traveler and was targeted because of that. If I had been with a friend, I’m convinced none of this would have happened.
Er, no. No need to go somewhere where you need to travel with a friend to avoid being ripped off and/or jailed.
I was just there a month ago. Cabo San Lucas was terrible but San Jose del Cabo was lovely. Should have stayed there!
Agree, we rarely go in to San Lucas when we are there.

My son had a similar experience in TJ with friends. Uber driver was in on it too. The cops took his friend to jail where it looked like a scene from Night of the Living Dead. Mens Arms Stretched out through the jail bars . My son gave $40 to judge and they were free

Never assume this though. Having traveled abroad, not all cities/countries are bad and you can still be in groups and targeted. Won’t say where but had a situation happen w/folks I know.
