Said in jest. Also, they could have offered the status for the $275 I was short instead of a whopping $1875, which they pulled out of their asses.

Why would they do that? Because ur entitled to? Or just because!
I’m with @andrewkimmel on this one. The whole reason they instituted the EQD is to get more money. So, rather than $275 straight out they would rather you get on a plane for a few dollars more (which costs them money). The whole buy up offer idea is a mess.
