Its too late. The Ice Caps are beyond saving. The time to have stopped it was 1980s, and the last chance was 2013 by throwing nukes around. The only question is are we functionally extinct as a species or do we go into an extended dark age.

Damages from weather + climate-related disasters in the U.S. from 2017: $300+ billion & tens of thousands of lives
COST TO DO SOMETHING:
Green New Deal: ~$10 trillion, hundreds of thousands of new jobs, cleaner air/water, extend human existence

Also the GND is not the answer as it doesn't end the carbon problem, just changes the inputs of the Carbon. We would all need to radically cut back all our modern technology and energy use to effect global warming, but its too late for it. Prepare for the disaster now.
