UPDATE: I just received a call from the hospital my sister is in. They told me she's been compliant and would like to discharge her. I told them absolutely not and that she has nowhere to go. I could use your help @NAMICommunicate. It was my understanding that hospitals can hold someone for up to 15 days to get a trial for LPS conservatorship. We keep mentioning this to hospitals, but no one has initiated or provided any assistance and they keep discharging her.
I’m not sure when they can initiate the LPS exactly but definitely happens after the first 72 hrs. That’s the first threshold u want to meet. That they keep her for at least that long. And do what you have to do. The hospitals lie and threaten so we must sometimes too.
They would throw her on the street if they knew she had no family. It has happened once before when we refused calls from a hospital.

Ask if there is a way to appeal that decision to discharge. Usually there is a government agency to contact when you have a dispute
