The attorney interviewed for this report has seen border facilities for years & admits they have always been terrible. But the issue now is the number of children who are there, the young ages of the children there, and the length of time that they’re being left there.
Keeping these children locked up costs American taxpayers $$$. These kids could be reunited immediately with family members and taken care of for free in far better conditions. Unfortunately, many of them haven't even spoken to their families since they arrived at the facility.
We share the same frustration, @andrewkimmel! Toughest part is that it's up to the detainees to cover most of the reunion costs. That's why we use donated frequent flyer miles to help our partners bring families back together.

This is why they're having trouble reuniting kids with family. They have no system to identify them & reunite them. There's no communication- no willingness to even begin to implement anything humane. They're warehoused, separated, & alone. This is no way to treat a child. #Abuse
#TrumpAdministration will use this to get money for it's border wall blaming a political party for their choices on how to administer their agency, when the solution is free and it reunites the kids with parents and family.
