I just called 911 again and asked for paramedics instead of police. We’ll see what this outcome brings.

UPDATE: I received a call at 4:49am from UCLA ER. My sister apparently walked in saying she was having complications with a pregnancy. The hospital called me after she started telling them it was the government who impregnated her.

This has happened before, where she would be compliant to go to a hospital w/ us & then tell the ER nurse some bogus story about stomach cramps, MS, headaches - the pregnancy story is a new one. It’s as if deep down she knows she needs help, but for the life of her can’t admit it

Just found out my sister didn’t check herself in. My mom kept calling the 24hr psych line & eventually a paramedic drove to where my sister was still STANDING on the same corner @ 3am. She had urinated on herself so they brought her in. And then she told them the pregnancy story.

The problem with trying to get them to take her to a hospital is that that isn't an "emergency." You have to say she's harmed herself before and you fear she will again. Once someone is checked into the ER on an involuntary hold (5150) they can get the appropriate help.

In my experience they only seem to want to do something when it's already too late. Never preventing, just reacting.

I followed you. Message me if you still need help. I'm a psychotherapist and familiar with the "system," such as it is.

She is definitely a danger to herself. Options: Place an emergency call to the doc who last wrote your sister's scrip. Call 911 again and say your sister's life is in danger. She must be 5150'd & taken to the ER. She'll be seen by a psychiatrist who can then get her to hospital.

I have been in situations like your sister and I have seen the toll it can take on the ones who love you the most. All I can say is that I’m so sorry this is happening right now but know you are an amazing brother & person for being there right now. Too many turn the other way.
