If she's a threat to herself &/or others, police are required to handle situation. The problem is she has to present as a danger at the moment the police arrive or already did harm. Been in your position. Hope you & your mom stay safe & your sister can realize she needs help.
Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this. The mental health system is in sad shape in this country. Before I became a journalist I was a clinical social worker at an inpatient facility and involuntary admission is a mess.

I am the daughter of a mentally ill prisoner and I run a county suicide prevention program in California. I hear this story every day. Across our nation, our severely mentally ill are on a revolving door of 72 hr hospitalizations, the streets and jail. Make 5150 documentary!
My ex was too. He was bipolar schizoaffective. After many tries with mental health docs & police my last resort was to take a huge risk & purposely get him super angry (wildly screaming at me) & keep him that way till police arrived. He was arrested then hospitalized.
