Socialism has been tried tons of times. It fails. Once the govt realizes there is no more money to pass around to those that don't produce you end with communism which leads to forced labor which then leads to dictatorship Socialim--communism--dictatorship
Democratic socialism is not the same as socialism. I don’t understand why this is still a topic of question. Do your homework and read up. Look at Scandinavian countries. Venezuela is not a democratic socialist country. Know the difference then come back and debate.
Democratic socialism is the lefts romantic way of saying socialism. Mights sounds nice at first untill you run out of the rich's money to pay for all the govt funded crap. Then decide to make up for it you raise taxes on everyone else. Eventually that money runs out too
I don't know if you noticed but the working class is being bled dry with our current system. Socializing things like healthcare and education aren't pushing for a socialist state. No one is advocating the removal of the employee employer structure.
Who talked about Venezuela.. You're bringing up countries that have a population of 3, spend nearly zero on military because countries like US keep them safe. Countries with very low immigration and economies that could dissappear tomorrow and nobody would notice.
You want a country with open borders yet have a huge social safety net available for all, free everything yet have zero fking clue how to pay for any of it... I will say though, ur dream land is coming, we will be a "democratic socialist" country soon enough. Hope you like it 
assume you're aware undocumented workers pay multi billions into social security system every year which they are not recipients of, a system which would likely collapse without them, at this juncture anyway.
