The Belfast Agreement was not that if the UK ever left the EU, Northern Ireland would stay under EU jurisdiction. But if Ireland & the EU insists that's what it was, then so much the worse for the Belfast Agreement & it'll have to go when we leave the EU.

I don't believe there need to be stop-&-check controls at the Irish border, but I am not prepared to see any compromises on anything fundamental to avoid them. Avoiding them (especially insofar as they are implemented by the EU not the UK) simply isn't that important.

That we do not breach the Good Friday agreement is important. Whether or not Ireland does is far less so, and we certainly shouldn’t worry about their mistaken belief that our actions make their misbehaviour inevitable.

As a NI remainer...thanks for your honesty (genuinely)..in fairness I think we all know this & if the debate going forward can be based on honesty (around this) I think that would be good
@Think32_ -
Honesty like ‘we couldn’t care less about the people of Northern Ireland and their lives’, you mean? Jesus.

If only you could guarantee that it won't cause ramifications beyond that eh? To be fair Andrew, most of us who voting remain realised quite some time go that all that matters to Brexiteers is that we leave. Nothing is more important than Brexit to them.
-
Short, medium or long term ramifications don't matter. Its all about Brexit. Facts? Not important as brexit. Peace? Not as important as Brexit. Trade? Not as important as Brexit. Jobs? Not as important as Brexit. Very sad really and so short sighted

In other words, you have nothing but disdain for the 'will of the people' that saw the Good Friday Agreement voted in by a landslide in the Republic and Northern Ireland. Thanks for being honest.
