feel sorry for the npm team, they've have such a long road of silly mistakes behind them and no show sign of stopping
Assuming the team stays the same, there is no reason for the situation to change. But what can you expect from a free service?
npm has a source of income. Also it's not like they're making mistakes because lack of funding, they make mistakes because they make bad decisions. The funding thing is a different issue
It’s just “npm loves you”
It improves security of the @npmjs eco system by exposing publishes to the owners. But it could be improved:
* the hash and the IP should be links to quickly confirm
* it should have a green/red status that shows if NPM thinks it is an unusual publish
* aggregate multi publishes
This is the same after half a year. Now they state that a feature to disable emails is in the works, but come on, it's a checkbox.
I wish I could opt-out emails for non important projects, where security isn't a concern.
One loved, you can't be unloved.
Npmjs loves you.
Seems that you can't opt-out of love so easy...
People are exploiting our package service's very obvious vulnerabilities! What do we do about it? a) Fix the vulnerabilities b) Flood our users with emails so they can figure out if they're getting screwed over by our unwillingness to fix vulnerabilities
Have they heard of GDPR?
