And if you don't have a mastodon account, consider making one! It is really simple; you just have to choose which instance to join! hci.social has a lot of HCI, VR/AR people. You can still connect to people on any other instance.

My hot take is that critical mass for HCI researchers on hci.social and for visualization folks on vis.social already happened? Many people created an account, even if initially just a placeholder for now and lots of interesting discussions happening.

I’m coordinating with to set up a server for the European AI/CV/NLP/ML/RL community (inspired by hci.social) so that will be one option. Perhaps similar efforts are under way with CVF? I’m on mastodon.social for the time being.

Kudos to hosting the hci.social server though, and cool to see so many people joining and posting the past couple of days. While I was skeptical at first, I find it quite refreshing.

Investing less time in Twitter and more time in Mastodon feels like I'm graduating high school and trying to figure out 1st year undergrad at Uni. It's a bit confusing and I can't find all my friends yet, but it's so much cooler and way more legit.

fiddling slightly with that Mastodon thing, though as I understand stuff, the server admin can read your private messages (dependent on setup) - bit concerning, but I suppose not less than twitter :)
