Your periodic reminder that Trump *for years* publicly condemned the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act for not allowing US businesses to pay bribes like others. Now we are supposed to believe he has a sincere passion for Ukrainian anticorruption?

  6. I really can't stand "unanimous consent" posturing. It's not a partisan thing, both parties do it constantly. And then always those stupid tweets / videos / PR statements / ... about having tried hard to get the right thing done. It just feels disrespectful of the audience.

  14. I'd be willing to bet that the reason the meet isn't happen is primarily that concern, and Trump's public cancellation is just because that's his form of building pressure (and warding off the upcoming leaks). I'm fairly certain this wasn't actually all that close to happening.

  16. I can "follow" the nativist reasoning behind requiring some US residency by the parent as a condition for "granting" a child, born outside the US, citizenship. But what on earth could be the possible point to apply that to kids of US gov employees/service members?

There is a serious conversation to be had about how the next administration repairs the damage being done by this one, and not just in the State Department. IRS, EPA, USDA agencies among many others where talented and experienced people have been driven out of government.
