#OTD 1961, nine college students, the Tougaloo Nine, were arrested for entering a segregated library to do research for a class assignment. Each was fined $100 and a 30-day suspended jail sentence. Medgar Evers bailed them out. The case was later dismissed on appeal.

In 2019, Bishop Dietsche announced that $1.1 million from the diocesan endowment would be set aside for the work of reparations. In 2022, a 501(c)(3) was set up to oversee the use of this money.
