I've always said that copy-pasting is the real root of all evil. Copied the vertex buffer view creation code to create one for the index buffer, left it referencing the vertex buffer and DX12 happily used it to render. The mesh looked sort of ok as well! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
